A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Center for Smart Infrastructure Resilience and Sustainability, United International University (CSIRS-UIU) and SEAP Consultancy BV, trading under the name Oceanbound on 23 November 2024 at UIU Campus, United City, Madani Avenue, Dhaka-1212.
Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Kashem Mia, Vice Chancellor, United International University (UIU) was present as the Chief Guest in the ceremony. While, Prof. Dr. Md. Mujibur Rahman, Department of Civil Engineering & Director, Center for Smart Infrastructure Resilience and Sustainability, UIU, Mr. Cypriaan Hendrikse, Managing Director, SEAP Consultancy BV (trading Under the name Oceanbound), Md. Yeasrib Imran Isty, Project Engineer, CDR International BV and Dr. Rumana Afrin, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Civil Engineering & Associate Director, Center for Smart Infrastructure Resilience and Sustainability, UIU were present in the ceremony.
The Director of the Center for Smart Infrastructure Resilience and Sustainability at the United International University (CSIRS-UIU) and the Managing Director of SEAP Consultancy BV signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on behalf of their organizations. The ceremony was attended by deans from various faculties, heads of different departments, the registrar, directors, faculty members, and senior officials from both organizations.
In this MoU, the Parties expressed their commitment to collaborate on a range of strategic initiatives aimed at addressing pressing environmental challenges. Among these, a project will focus on Climate-Resilient, Nature-Based Clean Storm Water Drainage for Dhaka which will contribute to sustainable urban water management and reduce plastic pollution. The Parties will also work on developing a comprehensive master plan for Bangladesh to stop all plastic waste from reaching the oceans. Additional initiatives include the recycling of plastic materials to recover valuable resources and the innovative transformation of water hyacinth into bio-char to promote sustainable waste management practices. Furthermore, the Parties recognize the potential for expanding their collaboration and agree to explore and develop additional projects in alignment with their shared goals and priorities.
