A Strategic Partnership Agreement was signed between Center for Smart Infrastructure Resilience and Sustainability, United International University (CSIRS-UIU) and International Training Network Centre of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (ITN-BUET) on 12 April 2025 at UIU Campus.
Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Kashem Mia, Vice Chancellor of UIU, attended the event as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished attendees included Prof. Dr. Md. Mujibur Rahman, Director of CSIRS-UIU and Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering; Prof. Dr. Rowshan Mamtaz, Director of ITN-BUET; Alauddin Ahmed, Project Manager of ITN-BUET; and Dr. Rumana Afrin, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Civil Engineering and Associate Director of CSIRS-UIU.
The SPA was formally signed by the directors of both CSIRS-UIU and ITN-BUET, representing their respective institutions. The event was also attended by faculty deans, department heads, the registrar, directors, faculty members, and senior officials from both organizations.
This agreement aims to foster mutual collaboration in developing, documenting, and applying scalable best practices in capacity building, action research, academic initiatives, peer learning, and knowledge sharing. It also seeks to engage with sector stakeholders to expand efforts in water supply, waste management, Citywide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS)/FSM, and climate change mitigation in Bangladesh and beyond.
